"WAITING IN
THE LOBBY"
by BEKIM PEROLLI

Why the fuck do we tolerate the infinite gun slaughter
Of our newborn elementary sons and daughters,
Of our defenseless barely-walking preschool martyrs
All for the barter
Of purported liberty and
Larder
All to tickle some corporate narcissist’s garter
All for the right to bear arms, a tyranny of ardor
Insidious facile fictions, our children collaterally discarded
We are hostage to brain-rot ideology
Can we not decry this moral chirality?
What honestly can be our societal intent?
Can we not awaken yet from this passive, endless consent?
Small mouths scream out in horror, limp annihilated flesh
Written off as breakage at some company’s behest
The price of freedom at its very fucking best.
